Someone brought me this desk unit that had been salvaged from a San Francisco home remodel. They asked if I could “pretty it up” with a fresh coat of paint, new hardware, and some alterations to the drawers. Seemed simple enough. However, as I started sanding the top, I discovered some beautiful doug fir underneath! One thing lead to another and I ended up refinishing the entire unit. My client was so happy with it, they commissioned me for a matching bookshelf.
